Rev. Peter Rocca, C.S.C., has served as the Parish Pastor of St. Mark Parish in Niles, MI, since 2019, bringing a deep love for Catholic liturgy, sacred music, and pastoral ministry to the faith community. A dedicated priest of the Congregation of Holy Cross, Fr. Rocca has devoted his life to prayer, teaching, and guiding others on their spiritual journey.
Born and raised in a devout Catholic family in Arlington Heights, IL, Fr. Rocca’s faith was deeply influenced by his parish priests, Dominican sisters, and his early experiences with liturgical music. He entered the Holy Cross Seminary at Notre Dame at age 14, beginning a lifelong commitment to priesthood and service. He earned his theology degree from Notre Dame and later pursued advanced studies in liturgical music and liturgical studies at The Catholic University of America.
Fr. Rocca’s ministry has been defined by his passion for celebrating the liturgy well, a belief reflected in his 23 years as Rector of the Basilica of the Sacred Heart at the University of Notre Dame. During his tenure, he oversaw major liturgical celebrations, helped lead the installation of the Murdy Family Organ, and played a key role in revitalizing sacred worship on campus. He also contributed to the liturgical formation of priests and deacons, emphasizing the beauty and reverence of the Mass.
Now at St. Mark Parish, Fr. Rocca continues to inspire with his thoughtful preaching, deep theological insights, and commitment to the spiritual growth of his parishioners. His weekly podcast extends his ministry beyond the walls of the church, offering reflections on scripture, Catholic traditions, and the power of prayer to those seeking a deeper relationship with God. His guiding principle remains: “Nothing fancy, just the Roman rite.”
Beyond his role at St. Mark, Fr. Rocca serves as General Editor of the Ordo for the Liturgy of the Hours and Celebration of the Eucharist, a consultant to the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops on Divine Worship, and director of liturgy for the U.S. Province of the Congregation of Holy Cross.
